PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE

Here at the North King Animal Clinic, we recommend that your pet routinely be examined once to twice yearly. We carefully adhere to vaccine recommendations put forth by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Routine screenings help detect problems at an early stage, prevent future problems, and strengthen the doctor/client/patient bond. Vaccines help protect your pet from infectious and contagious diseases. Nutrition also plays a vital role in the health of your pet. During a general physical exam, the doctor will generally evaluate such body systems as:

Cardiovascular
Respiratory
Eyes
Ears
Nose
Throat
Teeth & Mouth
Skin/Coat
Lymphatic System
Abdomen (including intestines, kidneys, liver, etc)
Rectal/Prostate
Orthopedic (Hips, Knees, etc)

Physical ExamAfter a physical exam, the doctor will address any problems found during the exam, make recommendations as how best to treat problems, and offer potential ways to improve your pet’s general health.

It is generally advisable to have older pets or those with medical problems evaluated frequently to detect subtle changes in their health early.

While the physical exam is a critical first step of diagnosing medical problems, the doctor may recommend laboratory tests or diagnostic aids to gather more important information.

Some of these services we provide at the clinic include:

x-ray labFull In house Laboratory
Radiographs (X-Ray)
Ultrasound & Internal Medicine Consultations

Just as your human physician requests during your annual physical, we strongly recommend that all senior dogs and cats (over the age of 7) have blood work performed at least once yearly.

If a pet is healthy on a given visit, we may recommend immunizing or boostering your pets' natural defense system with the following vaccines:
